Many of you may be wondering by the title, why on earth I would run for chocolate?! And that is a great question...but I think at times, as runners, we do these crazy things and sign up for races for more then just the medal, the swag, and the after race refreshments. We do it because we love it, the challenge, and the feeling of accomplishment. My favorite distance to run would be a 10mile race. Even in training, I LOVE running this distance. Its the one distance that challenges me yet I know I can complete it, and mentally have learned to push through a good or bad 10mile run. Which is precisely why I signed up for this years Allstate Hot Chocolate 15K - Minneapolis.
I have heard a lot of amazing things about these races. From the expo, to the the swag, the pretty sweet finishers medal, to just the fun atmosphere that surrounds runners of all abilities coming together to run their hearts out for some amazing chocolate waiting at the finish line! I am excited to be a part of it this year and experience it for myself.
A 15K may not quite be a full 10miles, but I am still up for challenge of running just over 9. The training for this race also fits perfectly into my 26 week training schedule for my 50K this summer. The funny part is, while I may not be a chocolate lover, you can bet I will still be enjoying; the marshmallows, rice krispy bars, bananas and pretzels after the race! And that chocolate bar finishers medal is the one(and the only) chocolate bar I can't wait to "bite" into!
If you want to join me on April 13th and are looking for some FREE swag. Head over to: https://www.hotchocolate15k.com/minneapolis/race to register and use code: BRMINN19 and receive a free Hot Chocolate arm band! Hope to see you there!
Happy Running!!
